Established in Geneva, neurosurgeon Dr. Frederic Schils can propose to his patients the complete choice of current and future surgical solutions for pathologies of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, in addition to maintaining a general brain surgery practice.
With more than 10 years of experience in back surgery, he developed a specific interest in minimally invasive neurosurgery after having benefited from a solid international education at academic university centers in Europe, the USA and Switzerland. Passionate about the idea of offering the best possible treatment to a patient, he progressively developed an exclusive private practice in order to be able to furnish the highest quality of care that is totally personalized.

Philosophy
He has been able to develop a philosophy of specific and unique totally personalized care where the patient and his/her pathology are at the center of his attention, and where each hope, specificity, advantage-inconvenience or risk is measured in order to attempt to find an optimal solution for the patient, whether or not it is surgical.
When a surgical procedure is necessary, the search for the best possible treatment becomes a priority thanks to his attention to detail and his values of empathy, humanity, availability and team work.

Experience
Ten years of experience in minimally invasive surgery.
Minimally invasive surgery allows for classical spine surgery using smaller incisions but with a better respect of muscle and ligament structures, through shorter hospitalization and a rapid return to everyday activities. The new technical approaches for accessing the anterior, lateral, posterior and percutaneous spinal column are particularly useful in reaching these objectives. Dr. Schils often proposes techniques for preserving disc mobility (disc prosthesis and dynamic implants) and minimally invasive treatment for spinal fractures (due to bone disease, infectious pathologies or trauma).

Private practice in Geneva
Dr. Schils has an independent medical office in the heart of Geneva in order to receive patients for consultations. All of his surgical practice is currently centered in three private clinics in Geneva:
In each clinic he has at his disposal the full range of modern technology (O-Arm, Neuro-navigation, latest generation microscope, Neuro-monitoring).
Trainer and international reputation
Parallel to an intense surgical practice, Dr. Schils maintains very close contact with international medical research and is extremely active in writing numerous scientific publications and in the formation and training of both paramedical personnel who work by his side, as well as colleagues from around the world. Thus he regularly receives national and foreign visiting surgeons who are looking to perfect their skills using the most modern techniques.
Dr. Schils regularly participates in national and international congresses, either as a speaker, a moderator, a chairman or as a simple participant. In addition, thanks to Geneva’s excellent capacity to welcome people and its international reputation, he specializes in the care of international patients coming to Switzerland for the best possible medical care.
